Creative Operations Manager
About DUER
DUER is a Vancouver-based performance jeanswear and lifestyle apparel brand. We created a new category — Performance Denim — jeans engineered with stretch, natural fibres, and versatility for bike rides, the office, and everything in between. We sell across wholesale, ecommerce, and a growing network of owned retail stores in Canada, the U.S., and the UK/EU.
About the Role
The Creative Operations Manager is the backbone of DUER's Creative Team. This role owns the processes, tools, and coordination that keeps creative production running at the standard the brand demands: on time, on budget, and without friction. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Integrated Brand Marketing and works closely with the Art Director.
Sitting at the intersection of creative production, project management, and cross-functional operations, this is a pivotal hire for a small, fast-moving team. The right person thrives in a growth environment, has a bias for getting things done, and creates the systems that allow great creative work to scale.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Operations Management
- Manage the end-to-end creative production process from scoping, brief review, and workback planning through to final asset delivery across brand campaigns, new store openings, wholesale sell-in, and ad-hoc requests, using project management best practices, tools, and AI to track priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Creative Team and internal stakeholders (Marketing, Product, E-commerce, Retail, Wholesale) to clarify briefs, manage expectations, and communicate status updates.
- Manage day-to-day Creative Team administration such as scheduling key review meetings, processing invoices, and coordinating print jobs.
- Maintain the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system and oversee final asset delivery to ensure all brand assets are organized, tagged, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Establish clear ways of working with Creative, Marketing, and E-commerce Teams while continuously improving workflows, processes, templates, SLAs, and QA checklists.
Resource Planning
- Build clear visibility into the Creative Team's budget, workload, and capacity by developing the tools, views, and cadences needed to assign, track, and manage resources on a weekly basis.
- Lead weekly Creative Team standups to assign, prioritize, and track all active and upcoming work across in-house and freelance resources.
- Provide regular capacity and budget reporting to the Art Director and Senior Manager, Integrated Marketing, proactively flagging risks and building seasonal roadmaps that outline recommended resourcing for the next two to three seasons.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of freelance and external resources (photographers, videographers, re-touchers, designers, copywriters, etc.) to support production at scale.
- Make data-backed decisions about when and how to supplement with freelance resources or make headcount recommendations.
Brand Project Coordination
- Lead the implementation planning of key brand projects with broad cross-functional impacts such as product name changes, packaging refreshes, and visual brand language updates.
- Manage the end-to-end creation of the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter wholesale catalogues and sell-in collateral, coordinating across Creative, Sales, Marketing, and Product Teams to plan work, gather inputs, and execute in time for sales conferences and tradeshows.
What You Bring
Required Experience
- Experience: 5+ years in creative operations, brand project management, or a related field ideally within an agency, consulting, or start-up environment. Proven track record managing a variety of projects from start to finish across: campaigns, events, retail, catalogues, and brand projects.
- Project management: Resourceful and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, navigate competing priorities and incomplete information, and keep work moving without losing momentum.
- Systems & Process implementation: Comfortable building structure and improving ways of working in an organization that is scaling. Demonstrated experience implementing the tools, workflows, and processes needed to effectively manage projects and plan resourcing.
- Technical proficiency: Proficient in Asana or a comparable project management platform, with working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem and Figma.
Required Skills
- Communication: Communicates fluently across creative, marketing, and business stakeholders, translating between priorities and preventing surprises before they happen.
- Structured operator: Brings order to ambiguity by building clear timelines, milestones, processes, and ownership while knowing when to set the playbook aside and just get things done when necessary.
- Deeply curious: Asks why before executing: seeks to understand brand strategy, audience, and campaign objectives, and challenges unclear briefs or unstated assumptions appropriately.
- Decision facilitation: Spots gaps, risks, and inconsistencies that others miss, surfacing trade-offs before they become problems and improving the quality of decisions across teams.
- Calm ownership: Drives work forward, follows through consistently, and stays composed and solution-oriented when times get busy.
