As an ode to the Greater Vancouver Area, we turned to Robin (our Director of Customer Experience and avid weekend warrior) who shared some of her favourite outdoor adventures just outside of the city. Take a look.
Little ways out: Pitt Lake / Widgeon Falls
Whether you're visiting from afar or call Vancouver your home, a quick escape from the city is always refreshing. One of my quick adventure go-to's: Pitt Lake and Widgeon. Head towards Pitt Meadows, towards Pitt Lake and spend a day canoeing, swimming, or hiking.

Camp under the stars: Porteau Cove
Summer adventures wouldn’t be complete without at least one camping trip. For those who want to mildly rough it, I recommends Porteau Cove park and campground. Nestled between Lion’s Bay and Squamish, Porteau Cove features beachside campsites and all the beauty that B.C. is known for.

A classic for a reason: Joffre Lake
Looking for that picture perfect backdrop for your hike? I suggest heading to Joffre Lake. This well-known destination is a heavenly mix of blue skies and turquoise waters. Word to the wise: it’s a little bit of a hike (get what we did there?) It takes 3+ hours to get there from Van.

Head North to Norvan Falls
One of my favourite adventure companions is my dog, Lucy. If you’re looking for a dog-friendly hike within the city, I favour Norvan Fall in North Vancouver. It’s a slow, long hike but has everything from woody trails to picturesque picnic spots.

Bonus: Snow camping at Elfin Lakes
The camping season can seem short if you’re avoiding snow, but we’re here to challenge that assumption! With the right gear, you can camp on the snow from May through October. The hardiest of souls will even try it right through the winter. I suggest starting with snow camping at Elfin Lakes. Grab your snowshoes and embrace the adventure!
